Resumen
Text linguistics is one of the most important branches of linguistics, and every science has its own terminology. However, in linguistic studies, the multiplicity of terms has increased, as the same term may have different translations among Arabic linguists, which has increased ambiguity and difficulty in defining the intended meaning of the term. It has become necessary to first refer to the term in its source language in order to deal with its multiple translations. This article will focus on the translation of cohesive and coherent means according to textual grammarians such as Ahmed Afifi, Mohamed Khattabi and Tamam Hassan, particularly in their translation of Robert de Beaugrande’s book “Cohesion in English” and the readings related to Halliday and Ruqayya Hassan’s work.
