L’exercice dans les grammaires du FLE pour un public hispanophone au XIXe siècle

Abstract

Les points de départ de cet article seront, d’un côté, la naissance du concept de « manuel » avec l’ouvrage du grammairien allemand J.-V. Meidinger (Praktische französische Grammatik, 1783) et, d’autre part, l’institutionnalisation du français langue étrangère en Espagne suite à la loi Moyano (1857). À partir de ces événements, nous nous proposons d’analyser les grammaires éditées en Espagne au XIXe siècle, afin d’examiner les exercices que les grammairiens ont utilisés en fonction de l’ouvrage pour un public hispanophone, et les classer selon leurs caractéristiques. Nous constaterons qu’il existe une sorte de cohérence parmi tous les exercices analysés. Elle est due principalement au modèle méthodologique de l’époque, c’est-à-dire, la méthodologie traditionnelle théorique et la méthodologie théorico-pratique (avec leurs variantes).

The starting points of this article will be, on the one hand, the creation of the concept of “textbook” (« manuel ») by German grammarian J.-V. Meidinger’s work (Praktische französische Grammatik, 1783) and, on the other hand, the institutionalization of the teaching of French as a foreign language in Spain by the Moyano Act (1857). By drawing on these works, we propose to analyze the grammars published in Spain in the nineteenth century, in order to examine the exercises that grammarians have used in these manuals for a Spanish-speaking public, and to classify them according to their characteristics. We will find that there is a certain consistency among all the exercises analyzed. This is mainly due to the methodological model of that time, that is to say, the traditional theoretical methodology and theoretical-practical methodology (with their variants).
