Abstract
A pioneer in the struggle for women’s rights, Senegalese
author Mariama Bâ is the first African
novelist to describe the place of women in her
society. At the heart of this novel stands the letter
Ramatoulaye writes to her best friend. Indeed,
the female figure is very present in the novel, torn
between a moral conflict for some and what remains
respect for tradition for many others, that is
to say polygamy. The authors wish to present the
work of adapting the novel Une si longue lettre
into a micro-theatre performance by university
students, next to the phonetic work carried out by
the professors so that the university audience can
enter Mariama Bâ’s universe, in order to grasp
her feminist message and to share it with the public.
Throughout this article, they will detail the
pedagogical scenario of this performance in three
parts: cultural, scenic and prosodic.
