La colaboración entre futuros traductores: su impacto en las creencias de autoeficacia para traducir

Abstract

Se presenta un estudio longitudinal de investigación-acción, cuyo objetivo general es identificar modos de desarrollar creencias de autoeficacia realistas por parte de los traductores en formación, lo que contribuirá a superar la dificultad que supone plasmar en objetivos didácticos las autopercepciones del traductor. El presente estudio persigue: a) analizar la influencia del trabajo colaborativo en las creencias de autoeficacia (confianza) de los estudiantes, y b) analizar las razones de esta influencia (ya sea positiva, negativa o nula). Para lograrlo, adoptamos un enfoque metodológico mixto basado en técnicas cualitativas, como la entrevista, el grupo de discusión y la observación en el aula; y cuantitativas, como la encuesta. Esta se materializó en un cuestionario que incluía la Escala de creencias de autoeficacia del traductor (Haro-Soler, 2018a), que los estudiantes comple- taron al comienzo y al final de la asignatura cuatrimestral en la que desarrollamos este estudio. Los resultados indican que el trabajo colaborativo favorece las creencias de autoeficacia para traducir, en general, y para tomar decisiones de traducción y trabajar con otros agentes en el proceso traductor, en particular.

This longitudinal action-research study mainly intends to identify feasible ways to develop realistic self-efficacy beliefs among students enrolled in translator education programmes. This study will thus contribute to overcome the difficulty in establishing didactic objectives for the development of this and other forms of translators’ self-perceptions. This study aims specifically at a) analysing the impact that collaboratively addressing translation projects can have on students’ self-efficacy beliefs (or their confidence as translators), and b) analysing the reasons for this influence or the lack of it. To achieve these aims, a mixed-method approach was adopted, based on qualitative research techniques, namely, interview, focus group and classroom observation, as well as the quantitative technique of the survey. The survey materialised in a questionnaire including the Translator’s Self-efficacy Beliefs Scale (Haro-Soler, 2018a), which the participant students completed at the beginning and end of the semester-long course that was the object of this study. Results show that effective collaborative work favours students’ self-efficacy beliefs to translate, in general, and to make decisions and work with other agents involved in the translation process, in particular.
