Abstract
The COVID-19 virus, which started to appear in Wuhan, China and spread rapidly, has become an
epidemic that threatens the whole world. During the epidemic, face-to-face education and training
activities started to be carried out with the Distance Education (DE) method. However, various
negativities may occur in the education-teaching activities carried out with DE. In this context, it is
necessary to determine the negativities experienced in the applied lessons conducted through DE.
Thus, new methods can be developed to minimize the negativities encountered. Therefore, in this
study, the attitudes of students regarding applied courses conducted through DE were examined. In
the study, a new Student Attitude Scale (SAS) was developed to determine student attitudes. The
developed SAS was applied to 227 students who took the applied Graphic Pattern I course in the
relevant departments of six universities and participated in the study voluntarily. According to the
results, it was determined that the students exhibited a more positive attitude for the classroom
learning environment. In addition, it was determined that the main problems faced by students in
educational activities carried out through DE were technological disruptions. Findings revealed that
students do not have enough of a technology-based DE method
