Migración, Cultura y Educación Física: las voces de padres y madres

Abstract

En las primeras décadas del siglo XXI estamos asistiendo a una ola migratoria sin precedentes. Chile no escapa a esta nueva realidad y su sistema educativo debe asumir un profundo cambio que le dé respuesta. Por lo tanto, las decisiones de los responsables educativos en torno a la llegada de los migrantes al aula no deben y tampoco pueden ser impuestos sin considerar las opiniones de dichos migrantes. Este estudio tiene como objetivo analizar las percepciones de los apoderados en la inclusión de sus hijos desde la Educación Física (EF). Metodológicamente es una investigación cualitativa que sigue las bases del enfoque fenomenológico. Se realizaron 15 entrevistas semiestructuradas en profundidad a 19 apoderados de 14 escuelas de la comuna de Valdivia, Chile, procedentes de 10 países diferentes. Para el análisis de la información producida se utilizó el programa NVivo, siendo la frecuencia de palabras y el análisis de contenido las principales herramientas de análisis. Los resultados muestran aspectos fundamentales a considerar entre país de origen y de acogida para la inclusión de los alumnos migrantes desde los aportes de los apoderados a la escuela. Finalmente, los apoderados migrantes consideran prioritario que toda acción dirigida a la inclusión se sustente en el respeto estricto a los derechos humanos, independiente del origen, color de piel, grupo étnico, credo, condición social y cultural, para todos los niños migrantes y no migrantes.

In the first decades of the 21st century we are witnessing an unprecedented wave of migration. Chile does not escape this new reality and its educational system must undertake a profound change to respond to it. Therefore, the decisions of educational managers regarding newly arrived migrant students to the classroom should not and cannot be imposed without considering the opinions of those migrants. The aim of this study is to analyze the perceptions of parents in the inclusion of their children from Physical Education (PE). Methodologically it is a qualitative study that follows the bases of the phenomenological approach. The 15 semi-structured in-depth interviews were applied to 19 parents from 14 schools in Valdivia city, Chile, coming from 10 different countries. The NVivo Software was used in the data analysis process, by taking into consideration the content analysis and words’ frequency as the main analysis tools. The results show fundamental aspects to consider between country of origin and the host country for the inclusion of migrant students from the contributions of parents to the school. At last, the migrant proxies consider it as a priority that all action aimed at inclusion is based on strict respect of human rights, regardless of origin, skin color, ethnic group, creed, social and cultural condition, for all migrant and non-migrant children.
