Nuevos imaginarios del otro en la relación Latinoamérica-España durante la Guerra Civil Española

Abstract

En este artículo se analiza el proceso de transformación imaginaria en torno a la figura del otro cultural en la relación entre los intelectuales latinoamericanos y españoles durante la Guerra Civil Española. Esta nueva conformación de imaginarios culturales que en el periodo aparecen ligados a las elecciones políticas se da también como resultado de la historia cultural de esas vinculaciones en el campo de la cultura. Por eso se revisan dos instancias históricas claves en esas figuraciones (en el siglo XIX y principios del XX) y se determinan los factores que incidieron en la nueva imagen de intelectual y sus otros. La idea de un espacio cultural que trasciende las fronteras nacionales y la imagen de Madrid en guerra como polo de religación son centrales para la reconfiguración de la imagen de intelectual.

The article analyses the transformation process of the image of the cultural other in relation to Latin American and Spanish intellectuals during the Spanish Civil War. This new configuration of the cultural imaginary, which in that period is linked to political positioning, is also the result of the cultural history of transatlantic relations in the cultural field. For this reason, the article examines two historical moments of the cultural imaginary (in the 19th and the early 20th century) and studies key factors in the new image of the intellectual and his or her others. The idea of a cultural space able to transcend national frontiers and the image of Madrid at war as a pole of rebinding are central in the new configuration of the intellectual’s image.
