Los dos

Abstract

La historiografía de la crítica literaria española ha usado a menudo la apelación a “los dos Alonso” para referir no solo a Dámaso y Amado Alonso, sino, de modo sucinto a la estilística idealista, tendencia hegemónica durante las décadas del cuarenta y del sesenta prácticamente en todo el ámbito hispánico. Si bien esta fórmula sintética resulta injusta frente a las cualidades específicas de que puede hacer gala el trabajo de cada uno de estos dos críticos, en el presente trabajo nos preguntamos antes por las razones de su éxito, indagando la unidad de fondo que une a los dos autores, tanto en la común filosofía del lenguaje como en sus políticas críticas, vertiente para cuyo análisis hemos recurrido a la noción de “intimidad” tal y como la teorizara José Luis Pardo (1998).

Historians of Spanish Literary Criticism have often used the terms “los dos Alonsos” to briefly refer, not only to Dámaso and Amado Alonso, but to the whole tendency to stylistic idealism that was dominant in almost all the Hispanic field between the fourties and the sixties of the twentieth century. Even recognising that the terms are clearly unfair regarding the specific qualities of each author’s work, in this paper we will explore the reasons of its success; the background unity of both critics, in terms of their philosophy of language but also of their politics, using on this regard the notion of “intimacy” as it was established by José Luis Pardo (1998).
