Escolha e aplicação de métodos estatísticos por futuros professores dos primeiros anos

Abstract

Neste artigo estudamos a adequação dos métodos estatísticos escolhidos por estudantes, futuros professores dos primeiros anos escolares, para analisar dados estatísticos, bem como a sua respetiva aplicação, em relação aos conteúdos frequências, gráficos e estatísticas. No estudo participaram 50 estudantes que se encontravam a frequentar o 2.º ano da Licenciatura em Educação Básica numa universidade do norte de Portugal. Os dados recolhidos dos estudantes foram obtidos através da aplicação de várias questões de Probabilidades e Estatística em ambiente formal de avaliação, das quais iremos aqui tratar apenas uma. Finalmente, em termos de resultados, verificou-se que os estudantes revelaram dificuldades tanto ao nível da escolha como da aplicação dos métodos estatísticos, mais acentuadas no caso da escolha dos métodos estatísticos.

In this paper we study the adequacy of statistical methods chosen by students, prospective primary school teachers, to analyze statistical data, as well as their respective application, in relation to frequencies, graphs and statistics. The study involved 50 students who were attending the 2nd year of the Bachelor in Basic Education at a university in the north of Portugal. The data collected from the students were got through the application of several Probability and Statistics questions in a formal evaluation environment, of which we will deal with only one. Finally, in terms of results, it was verified that the students showed difficulties both in the choice and in the application of statistical methods, more pronounced in the case of choosing statistical methods.
