Abstract

En este capítulo resumimos los resultados más importantes de un estudio empírico experimental llevado a cabo con 10 estudiantes de interpretación de conferencias de la Facultad de Traducción e Interpretación, cuyo objetivo consistía en investigar posibles diferencias en el rendimiento de la memoria a corto plazo en tareas de interpretación. En oposición a la teoría predominante (hasta ese momento) de que el idioma del discurso original no influye en el rendimiento de memoria, constatamos que el rendimiento de memoria era mejor cuando los sujetos recibían el input en su lengua materna.

In this chapter we summarise the most important results of an empirical experimental study carried out with 10 conference interpreting students at the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting of the University of Granada, the aim of which was to investigate possible differences in short-term memory performance in interpreting tasks. Contrary to the prevailing theory (until then) that the language of the original speech does not influence memory performance, we found that memory performance was better when subjects received input in their mother tongue.
