El sentido de la historia en la serie televisiva The Foundation (2021)

Abstract

La ciencia ficción se ha convertido, a lo largo de su historia, en un género literario polifacético capaz de reflejar con intensidad y profundidad muchas de las problemáticas que se nos muestra en el mundo en el que vivimos. La historia, como uno de los marcos básicos de nuestras sociedades contemporáneas, no solo personifica la memoria institucionalizada que tenemos sobre el pasado, sino también un instrumento de gran valor a la hora de comprender y de afrontar tanto nuestro futuro como nuestro presente. A través del análisis del tratamiento de la narrativa historiográfica en la adaptación de la obra de Isaac Asimov realizada en la serie televisiva The Foundation (Goyer & Friedman, 2021), en este trabajo pretendemos acercarnos a las vicisitudes y complejidades que tiene el relato histórico, y afrontar el tratamiento de su subjetividad que se ha llevado a cabo desde la ficción.

Science fiction has become, throughout its history, a multifaceted literary genre capable of reflecting with intensity and depth many of the problems that are depicted to us in the world in which we live. History, as one of the basic frameworks of our contemporary societies, not only represents the institutionalized memory we have about the past, but also an instrument of great value when it comes to understanding and facing both our future and our present. Through the analysis of the treatment of the historiographical narrative in the adaptation of the work of Isaac Asimov made in the television series The Foundation (Goyer & Friedman, 2021), in this work we intend to approach the vicissitudes and complexities of the historical account, and face the treatment of its subjectivity which has been carried out from fiction.
