La Ventana Indiscreta. Le Corbusier y la construcción del paisaje

Abstract

Le Corbusier era plenamente consciente de la necesidad de limitar la visión para transformar el entorno, natural o urbano, en paisaje. De ahí la importancia de rastrear sus dibujos, pinturas y proyectos realizados bajo un encuadre, una ventana, determinado. Del mismo modo, en su arquitectura las ventanas horizontales, huecos en muros, cerramientos de vidrio, antepechos, brise-soleils… no dejan de ser mecanismos que provocan una precisa forma de observación, y el lugar era un innegable catalizador de sus proyectos. La ventana, entonces, no era indiscreta por la afición a observar sin reparo al exterior, sino a negar lo discreto, es decir, lo separado y distinto. Todo fluía en la búsqueda de una unidad, de una síntesis entre la arquitectura, el paisaje y la vida. La mirada era selectiva, pero continua, unificadora y recreadora de los lugares revividos en sus dibujos y proyectos, en la memoria y en el tiempo.

Le Corbusier was fully aware of the need to limit vision to transform the environment, whether natural or urban, into landscape. Hence the importance of tracing his drawings, paintings and projects under a particular frame or window. In the same way, in his architecture, horizontal windows, openings in walls, glass enclosures, parapets, brise-soleils… are still mechanisms that produce a precise form of observation, and the place was an undeniable catalyst for his projects. The window, then, was not indiscreet because of the desire to observe the outside without hesitation but to deny the discreet, that is to say, the separate and distinct. Everything flowed in the search for unity, a synthesis between architecture, landscape and life. The gaze was selective but continuous, unifying and recreating the places brought to life in his drawings and projects, in memory and in time.
