Maŝá Hayim: Una homilía de Hayim Palachi

Abstract

Hayim Palachi pronounced this homily the first month of Adar 5624 (February 1864), while Passover was approaching. He tried to fight ideologically against the accusations of ritual murder that usually were done against the Jews while they were making their bread for Passover. Christians say that blood of Christian´s chil´s is used to make them. At the same time, the author exalts the magnificent disposition against this belief by the Ottoman rulers and Queen Victory of England, as well as the monetary help provided from three outstanding Jewish leaders: Moses Montefiore, Lionel Rotschild and Abraham Camondo. Hayim Palachi pronunció esta homilía en el mes primero de adar de 5624 (febrero de 1864) para combatir, cercana ya la Pascua judía, las acusaciones de muerte ritual de las que solían ser víctimas los judíos por estas fechas ya que, según los cristianos, aprovechaban la sangre de niños cristianos para confeccionarlas. Al mismo tiempo, reconoce el autor la magnífica disposición en contra de dichas creencias por los sultanes otomanos y de la reina Victoria de Inglaterra, así como la ayuda prestada por tres próceres judíos: Moses Montefiore, Lionel Rotschild y Abraham Camondo.
