Acoustical signals detected by seismic stations could be used to determine the location of a wave source located in the atmosphere. We study the propagation of sound pressure waves through the atmosphere in order to understand the basis of the method that uses arrival times at seismic stations and a proper atmospheric model to estimate the so-called supracenter. We apply the method to the available data from the seismic records of the shock-wave produced by the terminal burst of a meteoroid that flew over the provinces of Granada and Jaén in 2016. We use astronomical data to fix the occurrence time of the fragmentation of the meteoroid, aiming to improve the estimated location of the event. We find the optimal location of the supracenter to be at approximately 38 km over Alcalá la Real, Jaén, at 37.4939º N, 3.9083º O.es_ES
