Abstract
En primer lugar nos gustaría señalar que, aunque a primera vista el tamaño de muestra pueda parecer pequeño, en
realidad un n=16, tratándose de niños que presenten autismo, es un tamaño que podría considerarse adecuado y, por
tanto, extrapolable a niños autistas de entre 6 y 9 años dada
la escasa frecuencia de este síndrome en la población.
En segundo lugar y, aunque se nos ha hablado en clase
de las desventajas de un estudio cruzado, creemos que este
estudio debía hacerse de este modo porque ya se habían
observado ventajas en estudios anteriores de la realización
de ejercicio físico en el desarrollo de la capacidad social de
niños autistas y pensamos que no se consideraría ético, por
tanto, privar a uno de estos niños de dicho tratamiento.
Finalmente, nos parece interesante la idea de que los 16
chicos que comenzaron el tratamiento completaran las 21
semanas de ejercicios, más aún si consideramos la participación activa necesaria por parte de los padres de los participantes a lo largo de la duración del estudio (llevando y
recogiendo a los niños, evaluando su comportamiento, etc.).
Este hecho nos hace pensar que los padres de los participantes tenían la motivación de los efectos positivos que observaban en el comportamiento social de sus hijos a lo largo del
estudio.
