Hacer ciudad. Aldo Rossi y su propuesta para el teatro del mundo

Abstract

Aldo Rossi diseña un teatro al estilo de los monumentos vene- cianos, estableciendo una relación directa entre el edificio proyectado y la ciudad. Se trata de una arquitectura viajante, no tiene un lugar fijo en el que asentarse. Su propuesta excede la solución imaginativa, ya que el teatro da muestra de ingravi- dez. La idea de hacer un teatro flotante y viajante parece la materia- lización de un sueño. Un edificio que nos permite trasladarnos de la realidad construida a la dimensión de la fantasía. Como si fuera un espectro, el teatro aparece en el paisaje Veneciano. A diferencia del concepto tradicional de teatro que tenemos, asentado sobre unas bases de solidez y durabilidad, el Teatro del Mundo se concibe a partir de una visión diferente de teatro, una arquitectura efímera. Por ello, la justificación de los mate- riales empleados es total, ya que se plantea como una cons- trucción ligera a modo de balsa. La ciudad de Venecia es el contexto perfecto para incluir este proyecto, es una ciudad levantada sobre el agua. El teatro se convierte en un elemento de transición urbana, que recorre la ciudad para mirar y ser mirado. Es un espacio escenográfico que además de incluir en su función la representación, el obje- to en sí mismo es un alarde artístico. Se trata de un teatro por dentro y por fuera. La idea de crear ciudad con elementos efímeros parece una batalla imposible de cumplir. Por ello vamos a buscar argu- mentaciones que nos permitan acreditar esta idea.

Aldo Rossi designs a theater in the style of the Venetian monu- ments, establishing a direct relation between the projected building and the city. It is a question of a traveling architec- ture; it does not have a fixed place in which to settle. Its pro- posal exceeds the imaginative solution, since the theater gives weightlessness sample. The idea of doing a floating and traveling theater looks like the materialization of a dream. It is a question of a building that allows us to go away from the built reality to the dimension of the fantasy. As if it was a specter, the theater appears in the Venetian scenery. In contrast to the traditional concept of theater that we have, placed on bases of soundness and durability, the Theater of the World is conceived from a vision different from theater, an ephemeral architecture. For it, the justification of the used materials is entire, since it appears like a light construction as a raft. The city of Venice is the perfect context to include this project since it is a city raised on the water. The theater turns into an element of urban transition, which travels around the city to watch and to be watched. It is a stenographic space that apart from to include the representation in its function, the object in itself is an artistic show. It is a theater inside and on the out- side. The idea of creating city with ephemeral elements looks like a battle impossible to achieve. For it we are going to look for argumentations that allow us to vouch for this idea.
