The house is the physical manifestation of the built space that human beings require to survive. It is a social construction, a process in permanent confrontation that evolves to adapt to different life forms. As one of the spaces of the house, the kitchen has historically been very relevant, so this project proposed to identify its transformations during the twentieth century in Cuenca (Ecuador). Eighty-eight dwellings were analyzed, distributed in eight historical periods and, through architectural criteria, thirteen cases were chosen and reconstructed taking advantage of the benefits of digital simulation. It was concluded that the changes that the kitchen has experienced have occurred, fundamentally, due to changes in habits, the incorporation of new energies and technologies, and socio-economic and cultural factors of each time and place. This study contributed to the historical knowledge of the house and the consideration for its transformation in the future.es_ES
