This article updates part of an investigation that, since 2010, we have been doing about several aspects of sex work. The main objective addresses the possibility of a differential characterization of men who consume paid sex considering three types of characteristics: their sociodemographic peculiarities, their differential psychosocial character trait, and the services they demand and their motivations to do so. The research was approached through qualitative methods, typical of multisituated ethnography. The results obtained present the client as a diverse actor, demographically, psychosocially, and who buys sexual services according to numerous and conceivable motivations. Discarding any determination that categorizes it analytically through such characteristics. For the future, we propose suggestions relative to new methodological, comparative, contributions that address the issue from paradigms that analyze the commercial sex sector in the field of conventional economy.es_ES
