gráfica The aim of this work is to characterize the potential semiotic conflicts on statistical graphs
in a set of primary education textbooks in Chile. To achieve this aim, a content analysis was
performed in two series of textbooks (12 books) that were edited in agreement with the
current Chilean curricular guidelines. The results served to identify and characterize
potential conflicts in the activities involving statistical graphs that could hinder proper
building and reading of these representations. These results are useful for primary school
teachers, who should ensure that the work with statistical graphs does not promote certain
semiotic conflicts in their students and, thus, enable the development of a good graphic
understanding.
