Abstract
Se describe el efecto Mateo como concepto básico para algunas disciplinas científicas básicas. Se destaca la posibilidad de control del efecto Mateo y su aplicación a otras disciplinas no psicológicas. The concept and the main characteristics of the Mathew effect as a psychological concept is introduced. The origin and use into cientific production context are revised. We show other equivalent effect in several psychological contexts and different situations as education, economy, sociology and others. Mathew effect can be controlled and defined by decision and perception process in a psychological framework. Finally, Mathew effect has been presented as a useful tool in different fields where the psychological concepts are used.
