Prospección magnética y rádar del subsuelo (3D) en el poblado ibérico de La Escuera (San Fulgencio, Alicante)

Abstract

Próximo a la desembocadura del río Segura, en el término municipal de San Fulgencio (Alicante) se localiza el poblado ibérico de la Escuera, el cual viene excavándose desde la década de los 60 hasta la actualidad. Las prospecciones arqueológicas que hasta la fecha se han llevado a cabo se sitúan fundamentalmente en el primer y más bajo de los bancales del yacimiento, tras la muralla, donde el hallazgo de un edificio monumental y parte del tejido urbano puesto al descubierto constituyen un indicativo de la importancia del poblado. Recientemente se está llevando a cabo otra excavación arqueológica para completar las anteriores, pero teniendo en cuenta las dimensiones del área de estudio, se ha realizado una exploración geofísica del terreno a fin de disponer de información a priori y facilitar los emplazamientos de los sondeos. Para ello se eligieron dos métodos geofísicos: la prospección magnética y el rádar del subsuelo 3D (3D-GPR). En este estudio presentamos los resultados geofísicos obtenidos y su interpretación conjunta.

Near to outlet of the Segura river, in San Fulgencio municipality (Alicante, Spain) is located La Escuera Iberian site, under excavation since the decade of the 60’s to present time. The archeological prospections carried out until now are located fundamentally in the first and lowest of the site’s terraces, behind the wall. The discovery of a monumental building and part of the main urban structure distribution constitutes an indicative of the importance of this archeological site. Recently, another archaeological excavation was planned to complete the previous ones. But in this case, keeping in mind the dimensions of the study area, a geophysical exploration was carried out in order to have a priori information to facilitate the locations of the soundings. Two geophysical methods were chosen: the magnetic prospection and the 3D ground penetrating radar (3D-GPR). In this study we present the obtained results and its joint interpretation.
