La fábula Gallus et Canis de Hernán Ruiz de Villegas: un ejercicio de amplificatio

Abstract

Las fábulas neolatinas oscilan entre la creación literaria y su papel como progymnasma dentro de un contexto didáctico y educativo, empleándose diferentes métodos para componerlas: abreviación, amplificación, versificación o prosificación. El propósito de este trabajo es analizar la influencia de estos ejercicios preparatorios en la fábula Gallus et Canis, incluida en las Aesopi fabulae de Hernán Ruiz de Villegas (1510-1572).

Neo-Latin fables oscillate between literary creation and a role as progymnasma in the context of didactics and education, using different methods of composition: abbreviation, amplification, versification or prosification. This study aims to analyse the influence of this kind of preparatory exercise on the Aesopi fabulae of Hernán Ruiz de Villegas (1510–1572) through the example of the fable Gallus et Canis.
