Abstract

Definida como um "estado-limite", a paisagem romântica francesa é nutrida por temas como o noturno, o devaneio, a decadência, a privação, a morte ou o fantástico. Influenciada pela estética do sublime, esta paisagem romântica torna-se sensação, emoção e experiência metafísica, na qual toda aparência é essência. A perspectiva mitoanalítica de Durand legitima, neste estudo, a atualização das matrizes simbólicas e arquetípicas do dito locus horridus ou paisagens caóticas e apocalípticas do imaginário francês em universos contemporâneos de ficção científica como os de The Walking Dead (2003-2021).

Defined as a "limit-state," the French Romantic landscape is nourished by themes such as the nocturnal, reverie, decadence, deprivation, death, and the fantastic. Influenced by the aesthetics of the sublime, this Romantic landscape becomes sensation, emotion, and metaphysical experience, in which all appearance is essence. Durand's mythoanalytic perspective legitimizes, in this study, the updating of the symbolic and archetypal matrices of the so-called locus horridus, or chaotic and apocalyptic landscapes of the French imagination, in contemporary science fiction universes such as those of The Walking Dead (2003-2021).
