Abstract

Los ensayos recogidos en este volumen comentan sobre el modo en que Valeriano Bozal ha contribuido desde su trabajo como historiador y teórico del arte al análisis de las categorías estéticas. Como apunta el título, las categorías estéticas son órdenes de clasificación y valoración que más allá de las obras de arte nos permiten percibir y dar sentido a aspectos de la historia y la realidad que permanecen ocultos de otro modo. En sentido amplio, se entienden como categorías estéticas aquellos conceptos propios de la reflexión sobre el arte, provenientes de la crítica, la historia y la filosofía del arte. Son aquellos conceptos que constituyen nuestro modo de pensar sobre el arte y sobre nuestra relación con él

The essays collected in this volume discuss the ways in which Valeriano Bozal has contributed, through his work as an art historian and theorist, to the analysis of aesthetic categories. As the title suggests, aesthetic categories are systems of classification and evaluation that, beyond works of art, allow us to perceive and make sense of aspects of history and reality that would otherwise remain hidden. In a broad sense, aesthetic categories are understood as those concepts specific to reflection on art, originating in art criticism, art history, and the philosophy of art. They are the concepts that shape our way of thinking about art and about our relationship with it.
