Un principito para el siglo XXI. A propósito de El regreso del joven príncipe de Alejandro G. Roemmers

Abstract

El propósito de este artículo es (re)evaluar crítica y comparativamente El Principito de Saint-Exupèry y a la novela juvenil con voluntad de homenaje escrita por el polígrafo argentino Alejandro G. Roemmers bajo el título de El retorno de El joven Príncipe. Se analiza, en primer lugar, en qué contexto se escribe El Principito y cuáles son las circunstancias por las que, especialmente en Francia, se consideró durante décadas una obra exclusivamente útil para la infancia tomando en consideración los símbolos y arquetipos que se presentan. A continuación se realiza un análisis comparativo del desarrollo de la trama en ambas y la construcción de los personajes en El regreso del joven Príncipe con voluntad didáctica a fin de valorar los puntos de confluencia y de divergencia que se han considerado necesarios para que la obra resulte atractiva al público lector del siglo XXI; finalmente se argumenta la necesidad de incorporar a la realidad de las aulas obras de corte filosófico que se comprometan con valores esenciales y que posean, además, un lenguaje comprensible a fin de que resulten valiosas para desarrollar el pensamiento crítico de las nuevas generaciones de estudiantes.

The purpose of this article is to critically and comparitively (re)evaluate The Little Prince by Saint-Exupèry and a juvenile novel by the Argentine writer Alejandro G. Roemmers that pays it homage, titled The Return of the Young Prince. First of all, this work analyzes the context in which The Little Prince was written and the circumstances in which, especially in France, it was considered for decades to be a work exclusively for children, taking into account the symbols and archetypes that the book presents. Next, a comparative analysis is made of the development of the plot in both works, followed by one of the characters in The Return of the Young Prince. All of these with a didactic purpose in order to assess the points of confluence and divergence that have been considered necessary for the work to be attractive to the reading public of the 21st century; finally, this work argues that there is a need to incorporate the teaching of such philosophical works that are committed to essential values and that also have an understandable language in order to be valuable for the development of critical thinking amongst the new generations of students.
