Artistas andaluzas en la escena artística española. Las exposiciones nacionales de Bellas Artes (1901-1936): reconocimiento institucional y fortuna crítica

Abstract

Desde principios del siglo XX se inicia en España un lento proceso de incorporación de la mujer al sistema artístico institucional, superando unos prejuicios sólidamente instalados que fijaban su falta de capacidad para la creación artística. Un ejemplo de ello es la participación que tuvieron en uno de los principales canales oficiales de fomento de las artes en España entre 1856 y 1936: las exposiciones nacionales de Bellas Artes, que contemplan la aparición de una nueva generación de artistas españolas que protagonizarán lo más lucido del arte español del primer tercio del siglo XX. Si bien fueron minoría en todos sus capítulos, las exposiciones supusieron la entrada de la mujer en los circuitos artísticos, el reconocimiento institucional y crítico de su obra y su profesionalización. En este capítulo se analizan algunas de las 33 artistas que ejemplifican la presencia femenina andaluza en estos acontecimientos, las obras que presentaron, el reconocimiento oficial obtenido o la opinión de la crítica sobre su producción.

Since the beginning of the 20th century, a slow process of incorporation of women into the institutional artistic system began in Spain, overcoming solidly established prejudices that established their lack of capacity for artistic creation. An example of this is the participation they had in one of the main official channels for the promotion of the arts in Spain between 1856 and 1936: the national exhibitions of Fine Arts, which contemplate the appearance of a new generation of Spanish artists who will star in the most outstanding example of Spanish art from the first third of the 20th century. Although they were a minority in all its chapters, the exhibitions marked the entry of women into the artistic circuits, the institutional and critical recognition of their work and their professionalization. This chapter analyzes some of the 33 artists who exemplify the Andalusian female presence in these events, the works they presented, the official recognition obtained or the opinion of critics about their production.
