Abstract
The present paper tackles from a general and integrating perspective the knowledge of slavery in the late medieval territories that today shape Spain, focusing in the Crowns of Aragon and Castile in the 14th and 15th centuries. It deals with media image of slavery; the origin of enslaved people and their Iberian distribution, the slave’s image, labour, life and social position; owners, the difficulties
to reach liberty and freed slaves’ stigma.
