Abstract
Taking into account the role of employability in the European Higher Education Area and the challenge that facilitating students’ transition to the labour market poses, a teaching and learning proposal designed and implemented to foster the employability of translation and interpreting students is presented here. This proposal was based on a student-centred caring-teaching approach and consisted of four components: (1) individualised mentoring sessions, (2) interaction of students with professionals invited to the classroom, (3) workshop to develop the students’ self-efficacy beliefs, and (4) fieldwork on a specialization of their choice. The instruments used to assess the students’ performance on their fieldwork are also presented, as well as the students’ perceptions of this formative experience, which, according to most of them, fostered employability.
