Abstract
Este artículo recoge una colección de UFs del inglés1 dentro del dominio meta de la “borrachera” organizado de acuerdo a la metodología de modelos icónicos y archimetáforas (Iñesta y Pamies 2002; Pamies 2002), con el fin de
profundizar en la hipótesis de la universalidad de las UFs.
La naturaleza esencialmente figurada de la fraseología induce a pensar que gran parte de las unidades fraeológicas (UF) son “universales” al menos en su mecánica interna de creación y composición semántica. A raíz de esta hipótesis, surge un campo interesante para el estudio contrastivo de las UFs de distintas lenguas dentro de un ámbito concreto, el dominio meta de las metáforas. Para llevar a cabo este tipo de investigaciones, se hace especialmente patente la necesidad de adoptar una taxonomía universal que nos facilite la clasificación y por
ende, la comparación entre las distintas lenguas.
