Arquitecturas litorales para el baño: estudio y catalogación de las piscinas oceánicas desde el Siglo XIX hasta la actualidad

Abstract

El objetivo de esta investigación es el estudio, catalogación y caracterización de piscinas oceánicas destinadas al ocio de los bañistas que se insertan en los frentes litorales y que basan su funcionamiento en el intercambio de las aguas con las mareas. A diferencia de otros estudios anteriores, que se centran en zonas geográficas determinadas, reunimos arquitecturas de todos los puntos del mundo, procurando el mayor alcance posible para detectar tipologías globales desde el análisis de soluciones particulares. Se trata de una investigación cualitativa que pretende comparar dichas arquitecturas a través del establecimiento y análisis de unas variables comunes. Para ello se utiliza el método analítico-sintético consistente en la caracterización de las piscinas oceánicas desde su contextualización histórica y geográfica hasta los parámetros definitorios de su diseño y el grado de intervención con el que modifican el paisaje. La selección de casos de estudio y su dibujo bajo parámetros comunes permite establecer relaciones comparativas y sistematizar un método de análisis cartográfico propio. El conocimiento de la evolución del tipo arquitectónico, la formalización de sus diseños y el modo en el que se implantan en el territorio definen una particular relación entre la arquitectura y el mar cuyo estudio puede resultar útil en la reinvención de los frentes marítimos. Resulta pertinente profundizar en la diversidad de estrategias aquí descritas, teniendo en cuenta los nuevos paradigmas costeros que se derivan del actual contexto de cambio climático y las previsiones de ascenso del nivel del mar.

The purpose behind this investigation is the study, profiling and listing of oceanic swimming pools designed to create leisure activities for swimmers that insert themselves along the coastline and bases its performance in the exchange of waters with the tide. Unlike other previous studies, that focus on specific geographic areas, we unite architecture from every corner of the world, ensuring the broadest possible scope to detect global typologies from the analysis of solutions. This is a qualitative investigation that intends on purchasing said architectures through the establishment and analysis of some common variables. For this we use the synthetic-analysis method consisting in the characterization of the oceanic swimming pools from its historic and geographical contextualization to the defining parameters of its design and the degree of intervention used to modify the landscape. The selection of study cases and their drawings under common parameters allows to establish comparative relationships and standardize a method of cartographic analysis of our own. The knowledge of the architectural evolution, the formalization of their designs and the way they are implanted in the area, define a specific relationship between architecture and the sea whose study may result useful in the reinvention of the water fronts. It deems relevant to further look into strategic diversity described here, keeping in mind the new seaside paradigms
