Neuropsicología de la Violencia de Género

Abstract

En un intento de sistematizar el conocimiento científico que puede aportar la neuropsicología en este terreno, el presente libro versará sobre las secuelas neuropsicológicas y cerebrales en mujeres supervivientes y sus hijos e hijas expuestos/as a violencia de género, los mecanismos involucrados, las principales consideraciones de evaluación y rehabilitación neuropsicológica en mujeres y menores víctimas y supervivientes, así como las implicaciones forenses de dichas alteraciones y la aplicación de la neuropsicología en los procedimientos judiciales. También se expone el proyecto Believe, único proyecto centrado en aportar una batería de evaluación neuropsicológica gratuita y específica para la evaluación de las víctimas de esta violencia. Por último, se describe el papel de la neurociencia en el estudio de la conducta de los hombres condenados por violencia de género, y cómo dicho conocimiento podría contribuir a la disminución de la reincidencia.

In an attempt to systematize the scientific knowledge that neuropsychology can provide in this field, this book will focus on the neuropsychological and cerebral sequelae in women survivors and their children exposed to intimate partner violence, the mechanisms involved, the main considerations of neuropsychological assessment and rehabilitation in women and children victims and survivors, as well as the forensic implications of these alterations and the application of neuropsychology in legal proceedings. The Believe project, the only project focused on providing a free and specific neuropsychological assessment battery for the evaluation of victims of this violence, is also presented. Finally, the role of neuroscience in the study of the behavior of men convicted of intimate partner violence against women is described, and how such knowledge could contribute to the reduction of recidivism.
