Abstract
Los artículos de este dossier, pues, desean contribuir a una historia de
la ciencia plural mediante lecturas poliédricas alrededor de los modelos
anatómicos. La apertura de esta mirada crítica permite, por un lado, desafiar
la narración que ve una evolución lineal —progresiva, en el sentido más
estricto de la palabra— entre los gabinetes de curiosidades y los museos de ciencias naturales, o entre las colecciones de los teatros anatómicos de
la Edad Moderna y los museos de los departamentos anatómicos de las
facultades decimonónicas. Cuestiona, asimismo, la idea de que se trata de
evoluciones paralelas, separadas por la barrera disciplinar —en apariencia preexistente
o definida de modo claro, generalmente con criterios presentistas—
entre medicina y ciencias naturales. Por otro lado, esa mirada crítica
cuestiona también el discurso que insiste en ocultar, marginar o despreciar
manifestaciones y exhibiciones no sometidas al mismo régimen de exhibición
que se considera científico, pareciendo cada vez más evidente que necesitamos
una explicación histórica que dé cuenta del enorme impacto popular y de
la pluralidad de reacciones y recepciones que provocaron otros regímenes
de exhibición coetáneos. Regímenes que no son ni reliquias del pasado ni
manifestaciones a- o anti-científicas, sino que conforman una circulación
del conocimiento mucho más compleja y rica de lo que la linealidad del
discurso historiográfico tradicional ha venido presentando.
