La cultura mapuche y su estrategia para resistir estructuras de asimilación. Experiencias antropológicas en Patagonia fundamentan alternativas de cambio para superar conflictos étnicos

Abstract

El pueblo mapuche, como tatas otras etnias, sufre y se debate por establecer su cultura. En un mundo que pretende desconocer que, en el siglo que vivimos, el desafío más crucial será resolver los problemas étnicos, porque desde allí se establecen los conflictos más acuciantes de la humanidad, trabajamos en Patagonia estrategias de consolidar espacios de rescate y validación para los pueblos, que como originarios arrastran su cultura en colectivos que transitan la pobreza y la injusticia, en sistemas que pretenden homogeneizar, mediante la "igualdad", políticas sociales. El escrito que sigue marca en la actualidad, hitos de claridad en un trabajo de campo incansable, poco comprendido por autoridades y funcionarios. Poco comprendido también por los propios mapuches, que tantas veces desconfian del winca (blanco) que siempre le ha usurpado la tierra y los valores.

The Mapuche people, as with so many other ethnicities, suffer and fight to establish their culture in a world that ignores that the key challenge in the 21st century will be to resolve the ethnic problems that are the source of our most pressing conflicts. We worked in Patagonia to create strategies for the improvement of safe spaces and the validation of the people that, as natives, lag behind their culture. They live in communities that are caught between poverty and injustice, in systems that seek to homogenize social politics under the banner of "equality". The following article outlines landmarks of clarity in a field of work full of confusion, scarcely understood by authorities and officials. Nor is it understood by the Mapuches themselves, who so often distrust the winca (white man) who has usurped their earth and their values.
