Arquitectura y jardín en la vivienda doméstica española del movimiento moderno

Abstract

La relación con el exterior –con el patio, con el jardín o, en general, con los espacios libres– ha ocupado un lugar central en la arquitectura moderna. En España, la asunción tardía de los principios del Movimiento Moderno en los años 1950 tiene en la arquitectura residencial su principal campo de acción y en ella, el diseño de los espacios libres asume un papel esencial. Se propone explorar el proyecto de espacios libres en relación con el proyecto doméstico. El objetivo es, por tanto, identificar aquellas obras que tienen como protagonista el espacio exterior y analizar qué planteamientos del jardín fueron trasladados al interior. El Manifiesto de la Alhambra, de 1953, evidencia la búsqueda de las bases de una nueva arquitectura española. En este contexto, la investigación reconduce el estudio de las relaciones entre la arquitectura y la vegetación al ámbito del jardín y la vivienda.

Its relationship with the exterior – the courtyard, garden or any other outdoor space – has played an important role in modern architecture. In Spain, the principles of Modern architecture were not applied until the 1950 ́s and they were mainly used in residencial design, whereby the design of outdoor spaces became crucial. This has not been sufficiently studied while it deserves an in-depth analysis. The idea is to analyse the design of outdoor spaces en relation to the residential building. The objectives are to identify the works where the exterior plays the leading role and to analyse what elements of the outdoor design have been applied in the interior design too.The Manifiesto de la Alhambra manifest, published in 1953, describes the quest of new principles for a new Spanish architecture. This is an approach where the exploration of the relationship between architecture and vegetation is applied to the relationship between a dwelling and its garden.
