Consideraciones históricas sobre la casa tradicional gallega y otras construcciones adjetivas

Abstract

La casa popular gallega y las construcciones adjetivas han sido objeto de estudio por diversos autores, convertidos en referentes hasta el día de hoy. La tipología más antigua de la vivienda tradicional, la llamada casa terrena, aparece recogida por los mismos, pero echamos en falta el empleo de referencias documentales que ayuden a clarificar su evolución y transformación. Aunque podría pensarse que estas fuentes no son de fácil localización, los protocolos notariales nos han permitido conocer detalles en este sentido. Así, la presencia y predominio de esta tipología en el mundo rural gallego hasta bien entrado el siglo XIX, al menos en su primer tercio, a partir del cual tiene lugar el crecimiento en altura. Nota especialmente destacable es la persistencia en el tiempo de cubiertas vegetales, de paja.
