Fotografía y turismo. El registro de lo urbano a través de fotógrafos de proyección internacional por las islas Baleares

Abstract

La comunicación plantea un análisis de cómo han registrado lo urbano diversos fotógrafos de proyección internacional que han pasado por las Baleares desde 1914 (Francesc Català-Roca, Nicolas Muller, Raoul Hausmann, Gisèle Freund, etc.). Incluirá también el tratamiento dado a la ciudad por parte de algunos fotógrafos locales o residentes en las Islas (especial-mente Jaume Escalas y Josep Planas i Muntanyà). Se trata de establecer qué parámetros tienen en cuenta en su apreciación de lo urbano y de qué manera se relaciona con el fenómeno turístico, tanto el turismo inicial (de entreguerras, especialmente de los años 30 del s. XX) como el turismo de masas (iniciado en la década de los 50, en pleno Régimen franquista).

The communication puts forward an analysis of how different international photographers have surveyed the urban environ-ment of the Balearic Islands since 1941 (Francesc Català-Roca, Nicolas Muller, Raoul Hausmann, Gisèle Freund). It also includes the way the city has been treated by local photog-raphers and residents of the Islands (specifically Jaume Escalas and Josep Planas i Muntanyà). It also sets out to explore what parameters the photographers have taken into consideration in their representation of urban and in what ways it is related to the phenomenon of tourism, including both the early years (between wars, during the 1930s) as well as the more recent mass tourism (beginning in the 1950s, during the Franco regime).
