Historia de vida de una mujer española casada con un marroquí durante el protectorado español (1912-1956)

Abstract

La finalidad de este estudio etnográfico es conocer los rasgos característicos dentro de los matrimonios interculturales o mixtos en una época y lugar en especial: el Marruecos del Protectorado (1912-1956).Se trata de la historia de vida de María, española nacida en Torrox (localidad española en la provincia de Málaga) de 93 años y casada con un marroquí. Además de toda la bibliografía consultada para la elaboración del marco teórico de la presente investigación, hemos contado con grabaciones, fotografías y cartas de la informante, que han sido facilitadas por su hija. Destacar que la entrevista no ha podido ser realizada en persona a causa de la declaración del estado de alarma en el país durante el mes de marzo debido a la crisis sanitaria producida por el COVID-19. De las distintas grabaciones en los que la entrevistada cuenta su vida en diferentes ciudades marroquíes, se recogen fragmentos de su vida muy duros y complicados, a la vez que reflejan la fuerza y determinación de María ante las adversidades y prohibiciones de las instituciones del Protectorado ante los matrimonios mixtos. Casarse con un marroquí, era algo prohibido y mal visto por la sociedad de la época pero aun así, María consiguió ser feliz junto a su marido e hijos.

Theaim of this ethnographic study is to discover thecharacteristic features within intercultural or mixed marriages in a particular time and place: the Morocco of the Protectorate (1912-1956). This is the lifestory of Maria, a 93-year-old Spaniard born in Torrox (Spanish town in the province of Malaga) and married to a Moroccan. In addition to all the bibliography consulted for the development of the theoretical framework of this research, we have had recordings, photographs and letters from the informant, which have been provided by her daughter. It should be noted that the interview could not be conducted in person because of the declaration of the state of alarm in the country during the month of March due to the health crisis produced by the COVID-19. Of the various recordings in which the interviewer tells of her life in different Moroccan cities, very hard and complicated fragments of her life are gathered, while reflecting the strength and determination of Maria in the face of the adversities and prohibitions of the institutions of the Protectorate in the face of mixed marriages. Marrying a Moroccan was forbidden and frowned upon by the society of the time, but even so, Maria managed to be happy with her husband and children.
