Abstract
The aim of this work is to analyse the relationship between
Facebook publications and the identity processes of refugees, since through
social networks identity is constructed and reconstructed. This article presents
the analysis of the data produced from an ethnography conducted in the Italian
context, in which we have used in-depth interviews and virtual observation of
the Facebook social network. Based on the contents about the relation with the
country of origin, and those with the host country, we have been able to draw
the identities of the refugees. Their representation reflects the particular
migration path of the forced migrants. The reconstruction that derives from the
migration path of the refugees takes different forms. While diasporic identity
emerges between some, others manifest a multiple and hybrid identity, and
finally other refugees isolate, and hence, keep their identity of origin.
