Abstract
La potenciación post-activación mejora la contractilidad muscular en fuerza y velocidad aplicando previamente ejercicios de acondicionamiento máximo en el sistema muscular. Este estudio puso a prueba varios protocolos de PAP sobre el rendimiento de natación sprint (50 m). Se realizaron 4 protocolos que probaron aplicaciones de PAP en extremidades superiores e inferiores en 35 nadadores entrenados. El índice de fuerza de los nadadores se relacionó con los resultados. Las salidas de natación mejoraron por el PAP. La velocidad en el despegue fue mayor debido al incremento en los vectores verticales de fuerza desarrollados en el poyete. Los primeros metros de una prueba podrían mejorar utilizando PAP. Sin embargo, patrones como la longitud de la brazada podrían deteriorarse a lo largo de la prueba. Los atletas más fuertes reaccionaron mejor al PAP porque la fosforilación de la miosina (principal causante del PAP), es más frecuente en las fibras de tipo II.
