El trabajo de investigación que se presenta estudia la obra dramática de Thomas Corneille (1962-1709), concretamente de las cinco comedias imitadas de otras tantas de Calderón de la Barca. Para ello, la doctorada ha llevado a cabo un estudio exhaustivo de cada una de ellas en dos vertientes principales: desde el punto de vista estructural, primero, sus diferentes planos: el argumental, el actancial, los personajes y tipos de la comedia, el estudio de la tópica, etc., con objeto de definir rigurosamente sus características e inserción en la comedia francesa de la época. En segundo lugar, ha estudiado la relación de cada comedia con su modelo español, señalando las similitudes y diferencias en cada uno de los planos antes reseñados. Todo ello ha permitido llegar a unas conclusiones perfectamente fundamentadas en el análisis pormenorizado de cada obra. En ellas, a modo de recapitulación, se resumen las características y técnicas que el autor ha seguido en la adaptación de las obras españolas para encuadrar los resultados a la comedia francesa, con objeto de satisfacer los criterios estéticos y lúdicos que se imponen en la dramaturgia francesa del siglo XVII.
