La construcción social de los sentimientos: la muerte del sujeto que nace

Abstract

OBJETIVO: El objeto de este trabajo es mostrar que el sentimiento de pérdida que sufren las mujeres tras una muerte perinatal o un aborto es una construcción social de reciente creación en nuestra sociedad vinculado a determinadas condiciones económicas, demográficas, tecnológicas e históricas muy concretas. DISEÑO: Investigación cualitativa, metasíntesis cualitativa basada en estudios fenomenológicos. EMPLAZAMIENTO: Andalucía, España. SUJETOS: Discursos sociales impresos en la cotidianeidad: textos divulgativos y experiencias sobre el nacimiento y la muerte. RESULTADOS Y CONCLUSIONES. La tecnología médica y otras condiciones de posibilidad han hecho posible una nueva definición de la vida: actualmente el nacimiento social de un sujeto ocurre antes del nacimiento, durante la vida intrauterina. Este es el motivo por el cual las madres tienen sentimientos de pérdida tras un aborto o una pérdida fetal. Estos sentimientos son un efecto social adverso, un efecto secundario del poder de la ciencia y de la medicina como instancias capaces de construir imágenes sociales y culturales que crean identidad.

OBJECTIVE. To show that the bereavement feel women suffer after a perinatal death or miscarriage is a social condition that it is associated with particular economic, demographic, technological and historical trends. DESIGN: Qualitative research, metasynthesis qualitative based on phenomenological studies. SETTING: Andalusia, Spain. SUBJECTS: Social discourses of the day-to-day ness: spreading texts and experiences about birth and death. RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONS: Medical technologies and other social conditions have made possible a new definition of life: nowadays the social born of a subjects happened before the physical born, during intrauterine life. Then, the mother feel a loss -grief, pain, affliction- when they miscarry or lose a fetus –perinatal death. These bereavements are a social and secondary effect of the power of science and medicine to build social and cultural images of identity.
