El objetivo de este trabajo es la identificación y caracterización de nuevos epítopes T CD8+ contenidos en antígenos específicos de T. cruzi. Así una vez identificados los epítopes se ha llevado a cabo el estudio funcional y fenotípico de las células T CD8+ presentes en pacientes con enfermedad de Chagas crónica en fases indeterminada y cardiaca que reconocen a dichos epítopes, así como su dinámica tras el tratamiento con benznidazol. Las conclusiones permitirán establecer útiles marcadores de grado de patología y eficacia terapéutica. Asimismo, se plantea la identificación de moléculas marcadoras de mecanismos implicados en la capacidad del sistema inmune para modificar su potencial respuesta frente a la infección por T. cruzi.
