sociales. This article defines the concepts as well as the functioning of
certain Black African objects which develop the identity of some Black
cultures through their artistic productions. The link between art and reality (in
production or adoption) is what enables us to identify the terms of identity, as
well as to re-define it, to the extent of the needs of geographical or historical
modification or alteration. This article is divided into three parts which refer to
the representation of the human body as a priority space in Black African art,
to the mask which bestows a new identity on the wearer and finally, to
different objects which determine personal and social identities.
