La ciudad de Loja, la Madina Lawsa musulmana, es sin duda una de las más importantes ciudades y enclaves estratégicos del reino nazarí granadino.
Interesa aquí reconstruir cómo era Loja, cuál pudo ser su verdadera fisonomía, precisamente en el momento en que abandonaba su condición de ciudad nazarí para convertirse en cristiana, en parte integrante de la Corona de Castilla.
Este es el momento mismo de los repartimientos.
