Las suertes de beneficiados y sacristanes en la repoblación. Documentos para su estudio.

Abstract

En la repoblación felipista del Reino de Granada a los beneficiados y sacristanes se les repartió suertes como a cualquier vecino. Pasados unos años, algunos las descuidaron y, según se informó en la visita al Reino de 1593, hubo quien pidió desprenderse de las mismas a cambio de un aumento en el pontifical. Desde la Corte se pidió al arzobispo que informase sobre la situación y las ventajas e inconvenientes del cambio. El arzobispo, para dar cumplida respuesta, solicitó el parecer de los interesados, quienes masivamente expresaron el deseo de seguir con ellas. He aquí sus respuestas textuales.

Beneficiaries and sacristans were included on the repopulation of the Kingdom of Granada just as any other neighbour. Several years later, some of them neglected the lands and, as it was written on the visit to the Kingdom, that took place on 1593, some prefered to exchange them for a pontifical increase. The archbishop was asked by the court to inform about the situation and the advantages or difficulties of the change. The archbishop, in order to reply, asked the beneficiaries and sacristans, and the great majority expressed their wish to keep on having their suertes. Here are their textual answers.
