Retratos de intérpretes en archivos fotográficos digitales (1839–1914)

Abstract

Tras realizar una búsqueda en la red, localizamos 287 fotografías de intérpretes tomadas entre 1839 y 1914 en diecisiete fuentes en las que se identifica claramente al intérprete, por su nombre o su oficio, en el título, en la ficha documental del archivo digital, en leyendas al pie o en inscripciones en el dorso de las fotografías. Para poder analizar y estudiar estas fotografías creamos una base de datos para clasificarlas por atributos biográficos y técnicos. En esta comunicación presentamos los resultados preliminares de un análisis iconográfico y contextual de las fotografías. Para ello nos fundamentaremos en la metodología de la antropología visual y situaremos las fotografías en su contexto histórico, social y geográfico investigando a los autores, a los propios intérpretes retratados o cualquier otro dato significativo de la ficha documental.

As a result of a search on internet, we locate 287 photographs of interpreters taken between 1839 and 1914 in seventeen digital collections. These pictures clearly identify the interpreter by their name or their occupation, in the title, in legends in footnote, in handwritten inscriptions on the reverse of the pictures or in the descriptive records. To be able to study and analyze these photographs we created a database to classify them by biographical and technical data. In this communication we present the preliminary results of an iconographic and contextual analysis of photographs. To do this, we will apply the method of the visual anthropology and we will place the pictures in their historical, social and geographical context, investigating the authors, the interpreters portrayed or any other meaningful data of the descriptive records.
