La opinión del alumnado sobre las normas de convivencia: estudio de un instituto de Educación Secundaria de la ciudad de Ceuta

Abstract

Este artículo, forma parte de una investigación más extensa realizada en un Instituto de Educación Secundaria de la Ciudad Autónoma de Ceuta que abarcó diferentes aspectos relacionados con la convivencia escolar y cuyo principal objetivo era la elaboración del Plan de Convivencia del centro. Una de las líneas de trabajo de dicho Plan se centró en una serie de actuaciones dirigidas a los alumnos. Para ello se recabó la opinión de una muestra de alumnos de ambos ciclos de ESO en relación a las normas de convivencia como paso previo para el diseño de las actividades. De este modo se pudo comprobar cuáles son los aspectos que merecen mayor atención y, al mismo tiempo, determinar las posibles causas del incumplimiento de las normas. Entre los objetivos del estudio se encuentran la determinación del grado de conocimiento que los alumnos tienen de las normas, su participación en la elaboración de las mismas, la finalidad que le atribuyen y el grado de cumplimiento de las mismas. Destacan dos tipos de conclusiones: de un lado, la gran mayoría declara conocer las normas de convivencia, que estas son necesarias, aclaran lo que está permitido y lo que no, y reconocen su valor educativo al estar puestas más para prevenir que para castigar; de otro, la mayoría considera que las normas de convivencia no son justas, que los profesores no colaboran para conseguir su cumplimiento, y que los alumnos han participado poco en su elaboración. A partir de los resultados obtenidos se sugiere abordar la necesaria adaptación y modificación del reglamento de régimen interior con la participación de todos los sectores de la comunidad educativa y, en vez de centrarse obsesivamente en las medidas sancionadoras debe orientarse a concretar aquellos aspectos que hagan del centro un lugar de convivencia, optimizando los recursos humanos y materiales en el marco de la legislación.

This article comprises a more extensive research carried out in a high school of the Autonomous City of Ceuta. Such a research included different aspects related to the scholastic coexistence and its main objective was the drawing up of the Coexistence Plan of the centre. One of the working lines of this Plan focused on a series of activities aimed at the students. Thus, as a previous step for the planning of the activities, the opinion of a group of students from the two cycles of ESO about the coexistence rules of the centre was taken into account. In this way it was possible to verify those aspects which deserved major attention and, at the same time, to determine the possible causes of the breach of the rules. The main objectives of the study included determining the level of knowledge that the students had of the rules, their participation in the development of the same, the purpose that they attributed to them and the degree of compliance with them. Two kinds of conclusions were emphasized. On the one hand, the vast majority of students pointed out that they knew the coexistence rules and those they were necessary. They also stated that they what was allowed and what was not and they acknowledged their educational value as they had been placed more to prevent than to punish. On the other hand, the majority of the students considered that coexistence rules were not fair, that teachers did not collaborate to achieve their compliance, and those students had participated little in their drawing up. From the results obtained we suggested carrying out the adaptation and modification of the internal regulations of the centre with the participation of all sectors of the educational community. Thus, instead of focusing obsessively on the sanctioning measures, the future regulations were to be addressed to make specific those aspects which made of the centre a coexistence place, optimizing the human and material resources within the framework of up to date legislation.
