Abstract

Este trabajo presenta dos de las versiones que se hicieron en español del cuento más conocida del escritor norteamericano Washington Irving, “El caballero sin cabeza”, publicado en The Sketch Book. Sorprende que esta obra, The Sketch Book, que le dio fama y popularidad en América y Europa, en España tardó tiempo en ser conocida, de hecho solo se publicaron cinco cuentos de los treinta y dos que componen la misma. Esta investigación analiza y compara las dos versiones que se hicieron en español del mismo durante el siglo XIX.

This work presents two of the versions that were made in Spanish of the best-known story by the North American writer Washington Irving, “The Legend of the Sleepy Hollow", published in The Sketch Book. It is surprising that this work, The Sketch Book, which gave him fame and popularity in America and Europe, took a long time to become known in Spain; in fact, only five of the thirty-two stories that make up it were published. This research analyzes and compares the two versions that were made in Spanish during the 19th century.
