abstract = {Los campus universitarios norteamericanos, que con frecuencia han acogido la mejor arquitectura del país, han brindado también grandes oportunidades para el proyecto de los paisajes que unían las sedes universitarias en un todo coherente y dotaban al conjunto de una identidad propia. El paisajista Dan Kiley fue uno de los autores que hizo aportaciones más destacadas en este campo durante la segunda mitad del siglo XX, como demuestran sus intervenciones en la Rockefeller University de Nueva York (1958) y el Kresge College en la University of California, Santa Cruz (1971-1973). La primera se planteó como una secuencia de jardines que aislaba a estudiantes y profesores del estruendo de la metrópoli, como un oasis urbano, y la segunda recreó el bullicio de la ciudad en el corazón de un bosque californiano para favorecer la vida en comunidad. Ambos actúan por oposición al entorno para crear una identidad propia.},
abstract = {North-American campuses, which have frequently hosted some of the country’s most outstanding architecture, have also granted major oportunities to design the landscapes that integrated the buildings into a coherent set and conferred the universities with an identity of their own. Landscape architect Dan Kiley was one of the main designers in this field during the second half of the twentieth century, as shown by his projects for the Rockefeller University in New York (1958) and for Kresge College at University of California, Santa Cruz (1971-1973). The former displays a series of gardens where students and faculty can escape the urban turmoil, like an urban oasis, while the latter recreates the city’s hustle at the core of a Californian forest to foster community life. Both projects oppose their surroundings in order t provide an identity of their own.},
