This work describes and presents the status of a proposal that seeks to enhance the STEM curriculum in engineering students, through the development of a curriculum and course based on the construction of BEAM robots. BEAM robotics is about biomorphic robots, controlled by a simple analog computer that aims for the autonomy and self-preservation of the robot, and which is independent of the human once running. Given these principles, the course is intended to use, as a didactic resource, the construction of these robots with the aim of supporting a teaching-learning process of technical competences, such as: biology, mechanics, electronics, control systems, artificial intelligence, mathematics and sequential or algorithmic processes. In addition, another criterion of BEAM robotics is the use for its construction of elements recovered from discarded electrical and electronic equipment or WEEE (Waste electric and electronic equipment) with the aim of building low-cost robots. The proposal is in its first phase, currently developing the curriculum, the logistics for the course and the tools to evaluate the hypothesis of the proposal. With this proposal, it is expected to have a low-cost and entertaining course for learning robotics that enhances the STEM curriculum, and that can be implemented, not only in higher education institutions, but also in schools in the country. 2021-01-29T12:03:52Z 2021-01-29T12:03:52Z 2020 info:eu-repo/semantics/article Boya-Lara, C., & Vega, M.
